Loro Parque: the Ticket Is the Easy Part, the Drive Is Not

Loro Parque is in Puerto de la Cruz, on the north coast, the opposite end of Tenerife from the resorts most visitors sleep in. It opens 09:30 to 17:30 every day of the year – its own FAQ says "without exception" – and entry was €44 per person on GetYourGuide when we checked on 18 August 2026.

Admission covers all four animal presentations rather than charging per show, so the ticket is the simple part. The geography is the hard part: Tenerife South to Puerto de la Cruz is around 90km and 70 to 85 minutes by car, with Costa Adeje a little further again. That makes Loro Parque a full day in the north, not an afternoon out.

What the €44 ticket actually buys

General admission covers the park and all four animal presentations – sea lions, parrots, dolphins and orcas, each about 20 minutes. The park lists them with fixed daily times and no separate charge, so nobody upsells you at the door.

The branded tiers are the exception. Diamond and All Inclusive add guided tours, reserved seating at the presentations, lunch or unlimited food and drink at selected restaurants, and a park cap.

One caveat on price: Loro Parque publishes no euro figure in readable text on its own site, only inside its booking engine. The €44 above is the GetYourGuide rate on 18 August 2026; the FAQ confirms just the age bands, 3–11 on a child rate, under-3s free.

The orca question, answered once

Loro Parque still runs orca presentations. Its own animal-presentations page schedules them at 11:55 and 15:15, 20 minutes each, in the Orca Ocean stadium.

Animal-welfare organisations have criticised that programme for years, and two events are worth knowing first. Trainer Alexis Martínez died on 24 December 2009 during a training session with the orca Keto at Orca Ocean; the autopsy described grave injuries from an orca attack. Loro Parque ended in-water work with killer whales afterwards, and Spanish labour inspectors called such work inherently risky.

Keto himself died at the park on 22 November 2024, aged 29. World Animal Protection reported the death and repeated its criticism of the dolphin and orca shows; Loro Parque defended its standards of care and has announced no closure of Orca Ocean. That is where things stood in August 2026, and whether it changes what you book is your call.

Getting there is the real cost of the day

If you are staying in the north this is trivial. A free express train runs from Plaza de los Reyes Católicos every 20 minutes, last departure from the plaza at 16:30 and last back from the park at 17:30. First departures are listed as 09:00 in the FAQ and 09:30 on the plan-your-visit page – aim for the later one.

The park does not publish a coach-only fare from the south. What it does publish, on its own bus-service flyer, is a combined bus-plus-entry package at €64 per adult and €48 per child – if you already have your ticket and only want the transport, ask at booking rather than assuming a lower stand-alone price exists.

The twin ticket, and the wristband that trips people up

The same group runs both parks, which is why a combined ticket exists. Siam Park's product page lists the Twin Ticket at €74 adult and €53 child, under-6s free, with a separate date for each park. Third-party guides quote €78 and €57 and a 3–11 child band; we have gone with the operator's own page.

The mechanics matter more than the saving. The twin ticket is tied to a wristband fitted at access control that cannot be removed, and the second park wants both the wristband and the QR code. Validity runs 15 days from the first visit – which is the point, since the parks are at opposite ends of the island and should not be done back to back.

How to plan the eight hours you get

Opening 09:30 to 17:30 gives you eight hours, and the presentation times shape the day rather than the other way round. Arrive at opening, check the board for the sea lion, parrot and dolphin slots, then walk the park around them.
