Best Hotels in Puerto del Carmen: Pick Your End of the Beach First

Puerto del Carmen is Lanzarote's liveliest resort and the closest to the airport, about 10 km or 10–15 minutes away. Which end of the seafront you pick matters more than stars: Playa Grande puts you on the restaurant-and-bar strip, while Playa de los Pocillos is quieter, where the family all-inclusives cluster. The most-searched names, Hipotels La Geria, VIK Hotel San Antonio and Plus Fariones Suite Hotel, all sit on or near the sand.

Which Puerto del Carmen hotel should you book?

Stop at the first row that fits and book it. These four sell into the same package-holiday weeks, and the room you see today can be gone by the weekend.

Hotel Fariones, a different hotel from Plus Fariones despite the name, has its own section below. For how Puerto del Carmen compares with Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise, see our best hotels in Lanzarote guide, or our Costa Teguise hotels guide for the quieter, windier resort north of Arrecife.

Hipotels La Geria

The beachfront all-inclusive, and the most-searched hotel in Puerto del Carmen. Despite the name, Hipotels La Geria is a four-star hotel at Calle Júpiter 5, at the Playa de los Pocillos end of Puerto del Carmen, not out in the La Geria wine region inland.

It has direct access to the beachfront promenade: Jet2 puts the sand 15 metres away. The centrepiece is one large lagoon-style freshwater pool with a children's section built in, heatable from November to April, according to TUI. There are no water slides.

It sells room only, breakfast, half board and all-inclusive, and the Hipiclub kids' club runs seasonally for ages 4 to 12. There is a sauna but no full spa. Check current rates for Hipotels La Geria if all-inclusive with the beach outside the gate is the holiday.

Seaside Los Jameos

The toddler booking. Seaside Los Jameos is a four-star hotel at Calle Marte 2, on the Playa de los Pocillos promenade, with only its subtropical gardens between the building and the sand.

Its children's set-up is the most complete of the four: a babies' pool, a children's pool with slides, a playground and a kids' club for ages 4 to 12. Adults get a spa with saunas, a Turkish bath and a cold plunge pool. The hotel says its Canarian-style buildings were designed by students of César Manrique.

It sells bed and breakfast, half board and all-inclusive. One detail to pack for: the main restaurant has a dress code, with no shorts, sandals or sleeveless shirts. Check current rates for Seaside Los Jameos if small children and slides are the deciding factor.

VIK Hotel San Antonio

The flexible family booking. VIK Hotel San Antonio is a four-star hotel at Avenida de las Playas 84, which VIK places on Playa de los Pocillos; Booking.com measures the nearest beach at about 230 metres.

Its signature is the water: two seawater pools, both heatable, one of them a children's pool for ages 1 to 12, according to TUI. It sells every board from breakfast through half board and full board to all-inclusive, which suits families who eat out some nights and not others.

Two caveats. The kids' club runs May to October only, for ages 4 to 12, and the hotel does not accept stag or hen parties. Check current rates for VIK San Antonio if heated pools and a choice of board matter more than stepping onto the sand.

Plus Fariones Suite Hotel

The suite booking, and the one in the centre. Plus Fariones Suite Hotel, at Calle Acatife 1, sits on Playa Grande, Puerto del Carmen's main beach, with 229 suites, three outdoor pools and direct beach access. Booking.com puts Puerto del Carmen's marina about a 10-minute walk away.

It takes families, but its Select suites are adults only, from 39 m² Open Suites to a 124 m² two-bedroom suite with a private jacuzzi. Select guests get a reserved solarium, a lounge and an à la carte breakfast. There is a treatment centre for massages and beauty.

Book it if you want suite space in walking distance of the restaurants and bars, and pick a Select category if you want the adults-only side. Check current rates for Plus Fariones.

Is Hotel Fariones the same as Plus Fariones?

No, and the mix-up is common. Hotel Fariones is a separate hotel at Calle Roque del Este 1, run by Rosa Hotels, with its own website and its own Booking listing. Plus Fariones Suite Hotel is the 229-suite hotel on Playa Grande above.

Hotel Fariones opened in 1966, was renovated in 2020 and has 213 rooms, all with sea views, set in a tropical garden more than 40 years old with direct access to three beaches. It has a wellness circuit, Kaori for Asian food and Erizo for Atlantic cooking, and guests get free gym access at the Centro Deportivo Fariones, 50 metres away.

It welcomes children, but its rooftop infinity pool is reserved for certain suite categories. Book it for a classic beachfront hotel in the centre; check current rates for Hotel Fariones.

Two more worth knowing about

Lani's Suites de Luxe is the adults-only option: 25 suites, guests aged 16 and over, on Avenida de las Playas, and listed in the Michelin Guide. Booking.com puts the nearest sandy beach about 400 metres away. Book it for a small hotel with no children at all.

Grupotel Cinco Plazas is the budget family choice: a three-star aparthotel 350 metres from the beach, with studios and apartments with full kitchens around three pool areas, a children's pool and a splash area. Breakfast and dinner are served in its restaurant if you do not want to cook.

Why the Los Pocillos end wins for families

Put these hotels on a map and the resort sorts itself. Hipotels La Geria, Seaside Los Jameos and VIK San Antonio, the three family all-inclusives, all sit at the Los Pocillos end, where the beach is longer and quieter. The hotels with adult-only space, Plus Fariones' Select suites and Lani's, sit in the centre, nearer the bars.

That makes the choice simpler than the hotel count suggests. Families pick an end of the beach first, couples pick the centre, and the hotel follows. The airport is so close that neither choice costs a long transfer.

When to book a Puerto del Carmen hotel

In winter, pool heating matters more than people expect. Hipotels La Geria heats its pool from November to April, and TUI's UK listing warned in October 2026 that the pool is scheduled to close from 15 January to 19 February 2027, so check before booking those weeks.

Kids' clubs are seasonal too, so confirm they run in your dates. Puerto del Carmen is also where most Lanzarote boat trips sail from, and beginner try dives at Playa Chica start from the beach in town.
